Direct Primary Care

Your Health, Your Doctor, Your Way

At LeConte Family practice we present a unique approach to fulfilling your healthcare needs through a program called “Direct Primary Care” where the patient pays the physician directly.  For a low cost flat monthly fee you have unrestricted access to Dr. Carter, your personal physician. Our low cost, cash pay membership includes extended appointment times, same-day or next-day scheduling and unhurried consultations, allowing for thorough assessments and personalized treatment plans. Once established as a patient, visits can be at our office or by telehealth.

 FAQs

  • We do not accept insurance due to all the requirements put on physicians when they choose to accept insurance payments. When a physician chooses to accept insurance payments they are working for the insurance company, not the patient. They are allowed 15 minutes to see the patient and do all the documentation required to get paid. Our time is spent totally on you, the patient - We work for YOU.

  • The main reason, ACCESS and AVAILABILITY. The biggest complaint we hear is that you cannot get same day or next day visits with your physician and then pay high copays for urgent care and ER visits because you need care now, not next week. With Direct Primary Care you will be able to contact the physician by phone, email or with a Telehealth visit and receive your care when you need it.

Also, visits at LeConte Family Practice will be unhurried and thorough to be able to address your health concerns. With a patient volume of 300-400 patients total, time with patients can be extended to what the patient needs, not what the clock says.

  • We have tried to make medical care at LeConte Family Practice AFFORDABLE. Whether you are a member and pay a monthly fee or if you pay for only the services you need, we feel that it needs to be affordable for all.
Please see our pricing page for membership and individual service pricing!

  • Yes. You need only sign a one-time waiver declaring that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for our services. Even though Medicare will not pay us for any services you receive in our practice, your Medicare benefits will otherwise remain unchanged and can continue to be used for all other medical care received outside of our practice. Medicare will still cover any laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations prescribed by our offices.

  • We do not require you to have a membership for Direct Primary Care but you will not have full access to Dr. Carter like those who have a membership. Members have 24/7 access to Dr. Carter in person, by phone, text or email. Additionally, non-members will pay for every service separately where members only pay the monthly fee and also receive considerable discounts on medications (future service).

  • For starters, having direct access to your doctor can prevent hospitalizations and specialty referrals in many cases. However, when those types of care are required, LeConte Family Practice will certainly continue to work with your hospitalist during your hospital stay, as well as work closely with any specialist. Depending on the level of care and the sorts of expertise required, we may rely on those specialized caregivers to manage your treatment.

  • Of course! Member access is one of the greatest benefits of the direct primary care model. Because illness and injury do not respect regular office hours, you may call, text, or email your member whenever you need. We will also have the ability to have Telehealth visits if appropriate.

  • Because you'll have your doctor's email and phone number, you can reach out to us whenever you need, wherever you are. Many illnesses can be diagnosed and treated with a simple conversation. We’ll also locate the nearest pharmacy and order medications if appropriate for your circumstances.

  • You may want to check with your human resources department regarding the use of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) as possible payment options for your membership. If you are unable to use these funds to pay for the membership fee directly, there is a good chance that you can still use your HSA/FSA as reimbursement for certain services provided through our office. HSA/FSA funds can currently be used to purchase medications or pay for diagnostic testing.

  • Please confer with your tax consultant to clarify tax consequences in your particular circumstances.

  • Many small businesses are competing for employees in today's market, and it's key to provide an attractive benefits package that makes you stand out from the rest.

Adding direct primary care as a healthcare option for employees shows that you take your employees' health seriously. By providing affordable and accessible continuity of care for the employee and their family, the doors open for healthier employees, increased productivity, decreased need for prescription medications and hospitalizations, and fewer sick days.

  • We expect to have an open, honest, respectful relationship with you. If you have decided you do not want to receive your healthcare any longer at our clinic or you want to pay non-member pricing, we will gladly allow you to terminate your membership.
